Alan Schechter, who blogs for the Jets at The Jets Press, sat down with Jets legend Wesley Walker recently to discuss a variety of topics. Here is what Walker had to say about the current Jets team.
TJP-I am curious to what you think about Rex and the current team…
WW-I like Rex. I think right now though, you know, he does well with the media because he’s , he’ll give you a sound bite and he can talk and he’s very entertaining and that’s good. As far as the celebrations like Santonio Holmes, I just don’t go for that. I’m to the point now, enough talk, just play the game. They definitely have to get back on board, because they have lost that emphasis on the defensive part of the game. I think he’s a great coach, and it’s a team sport. Injuries are a big factor. You have to be on the same page as a whole. There can’t be any in-fighting. People don’t know how hard it is to have people stay healthy on every phase of the ball. You lose two, three guys, whether it’s on offense or defense, it could kill you. So I do have confidence in Rex….I just hope that ..even with Tim Tebow, puts a fire under Sanchez, he’s definitely got to get better. He’s got to move, or make some kind of progress, otherwise it’s gonna be the same thing.

Wesley Walker was great! Legally blind in one eye also.
Is it me or does it sounds like Walker is just rambling here?
Nep Oznat says:
no, it’s probably just that his English is not good.
He wasn’tv rambling….he was trying to be cautious his words more likely.
Sounded to me like he was saying that a lot of things need to go right to have a good season (lack of injuried etc)……and that Sanchez needs to take the next step in his development. He was trying to be polite about what happened last year with the team because he is class.
My favorite Jets receiver ever…probably wouldn’t get drafted in todays NFL because of his vision. This guy was a great player.
Walker is the man ! Classic Jet
“Wesley Walker going deep”
The guy was asked what he thought about the Jets so he was just trying to cover all the media points..
I’m sure he still remembers the ’86 season where the Jets were playing lights out football but the season got derailed by injuries……that was probably the best Jets team ever.
1986 Jets started the season 10-1…..then finished 10-6 and exited the playoff 1st round…..people we’re so excited that year and by the end of the season it was …same old Jets…..Lance Mehl, Wesley Walker, Freeman McNeil, Al Toon, The Sack Exchange….brings back memories..
It was similar to the 2008 Jets with Favre where the team started 8-3 with Favre and looked great and then self destructed when Favre got injured.
Wesley is old school. Translation: None of this fly boy crap, play D like you mean it and Sanchez just don’t screw it up.

Thanks to all that read the interview…If you go to our website, Part I of our interview Wesley talks about his own career, the season they started 10-1…etc. here is the link http://thejetpress.com/2012/06/23/exclusive-interview-with-jets-great-wesley-walker-part-i/
NOt sure if that worked as a link but you can cut and paste it, and read what he had to say….By the way he did ramble a little, but he was trying to cover all bases. The first part is great too
