Breaking: RB Le’Veon Bell Out For “A Couple of Weeks”

Earlier, it was revealed that the New York Jets will be without Le’Veon Bell for multiple games. Bell injured his hamstring on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Adam Gase said in a zoom call “we could be looking at a couple of weeks with him on the sideline”. Not a good sign for the Jets. The team currently holds one healthy running back on the roster. Rookie La’Mical Perine is injured. 37-year old Frank Gore is well passed his prime and it’d be foolish to give him the most carries. It’s clear that the Jets will have to look elsewhere for a new starting running back.

Running back Le’Veon Bell was about to embark on a year of resurgence. Bell put up career lows in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and yards per carry. The culprits of Bell’s bad season include counterproductive playcalling and a terrible offensive line. If Bell displays another bad season, signs point to his release.

Anyways, you cannot rely on Frank Gore to carry the heavy load of touches in the backfield. Notable running backs include Devonta Freeman, Lamar Miller, Isaiah Crowell, and Bilal Powell.

Powell played for the Jets from 2011-2019. He is familiar with the Adam Gase offense and is technically a scheme-fit. Bilal Powell’s running style fits the offensive line to a tee. He’s is a power back who doesn’t excel at one thing. But, he is solid in the running and passing game equally. Also, Many compared Rookie La’Mical Perine to Powell several times.

The Jets need some new flesh to carry the load at running back.

Unfortunately, the team currently doesn’t have a game-changer on the offensive side of the ball.

In other words, the Jets need another playmaker.
