The Yankees‘ three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays was a nightmare for the Jays. The Yankees would go on to outscore the Blue Jays in the three-game series 43-15.
Yankees Are Slamming in Game 1!
Deivi Garcia would take the mound for the Yankees and he was great. He pitched seven innings, allowed six hits and giving up three runs, and striking out six. Taijuan Walker would take the mound for the Blue Jays and he would get bounced early. Walker didn’t even get out of the first inning as he would give up seven runs with only one run earned only striking out two.
In the second inning, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. connected on a home run. After the homer, the Yankees offense would just explode as Brett Gardner, Tyler Wade, and D.J. LeMahieu connected on RBI singles in the second. Then, Luke Voit would hit a two-run home run in the 2nd followed by an Aaron Hicks solo homerun.
Now in the third inning, Gary Sanchez and Tyler Wade were both hit by the pitch with the bases loaded and they both brought in a run. Also in the third, D.J. LeMahieu would hit an RBI double. In the fourth inning, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. would hit a two-run home run.
In the bottom of the fourth, Gary Sanchez would hit a three-run home run and Luke Voit would hit an RBI single. Then in the ninth inning, Clint Frazier would hit a two-run home run. Then, D.J. LeMahieu hit a solo home run. In the ninth, Joe Panik hit an RBI double, Derek Fisher grounded into a fielder’s choice which scored Panik, and Bo Bichette hit an RBI double.
The Yankees would demolish the Jays by a score of 20-6.
Gerrit Cole Dominates in Game 2!
Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he was phenomenal. He pitched seven innings, allowing three hits, one run, and striking out eight. Tanner Roark started for the Blue Jays and he got roughed up. Roark pitched 4 innings, allowing six hits, six runs, and striking out four.
DJ LeMahieu would start the scoring for the Yankees as he hit a solo home run to start the bottom of the 1st inning. In the third Kyle, Higashioka hit a two-run home run. The next inning, Clint Frazier and D.J. LeMahieu would both go deep. In the fifth, Frazier connected on an RBI single. Jonathan Villar would score in the sixth on a Gerrit Cole wild pitch. In the bottom of the sixth, Kyle Higashioka would hit a solo home run and Luke Voit hit a three-run home run. At the bottom of the seventh, Kyle Higashioka would connect on a two-run home run. That was Higashioka’s third home run of the night. In the top of the ninth, Joe Panik would hit a solo home run.
The Yankees would take game two by a score of 13-2.
Yankees Win 10-7 In Game 3!
Masahiro Tanaka would get the ball for the Yankees and he pitched solid. Tanaka pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits, three runs, striking out five. On the other side, Julian Merryweather started for the Blue Jays. In just one inning, Merryweather gave up two runs on two hits.
During the first inning, Giancarlo Stanton hit an RBI single and Gleyber Torres grounded into an RBI double play. By the end of one, the Yankees were up 2-0. Chase Anderson would relieve Merryweather in the 2nd inning.
In the top of the third inning, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. launched a solo home run to left-center field. Later in the inning, Bo Bichette connected on an RBI single, tying the score at two.
The Yankees would create a seven-run inning in the bottom of the fourth, going up 9-2. That inning, Gary Sanchez hit an RBI double. Then, Brett Gardner connected on a two-run home run. After that, DJ LeMahieu, Luke Voit, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gleyber Torres all hit solo home runs. That would be five home runs in one inning for the Yankees.
During the fifth inning, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. would connect on his second home run of the game, making it a 9-3 game.
In the seventh Gary Sanchez would go deep, making the score 10-3 Yankees.
To start the scoring in the top of the ninth, Danny Jansen hit an infield RBI single. Then, Cavan Biggio drew a bases-loaded walk. After that, Bo Bichette hit an RBI single. The Blue Jays could not make the comeback as he Yankees would win 10-7 and complete the sweep.
The Yankees demolished the Blue Jays this series by good pitching and an unbelievable historic offense.
The Bronx Bombers will head to Fenway Park to face the Boston Red Sox.
