Yankees Lose 3 out of 4 to Blue Jays in Final Road Trip

On the final road trip of the year, the New York Yankees won their series against the Red Sox, taking two out of three. However, against the Blue Jays, Toronto stood strong and took three out of four in the Yankees’ final road series of the season.

Game One

T.J. Zeuch would start for the Blue Jays and he would go three and a third innings while giving up one hit and one run. He did not strike anyone out. Michael King would start for the Yankees and he would go two and a two-thirds innings while giving up five hits, five runs, and striking out six.

Gio Urshela would get the scoring started in the second as he would hit an RBI single. Then it was pretty much all Blue Jays as Bo Bichette, Teoscar Hernandez, Randal Grichuk, and Vlad Guerro Jr. all hit RBI singles in the third. Advancing into the following inning, Bo Bichette hit an RBI single, Teoscar Hernandez hit an infield RBI single, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit into a double play which scored a run, and Vlad Guerrero Jr. hit an RBI double.

In the sixth inning, Randal Grichuk would hit a solo home run. Following the sixth, Gio Urshela hit into an RBI groundout, and in the bottom of the seventh, Alejandro Kirk hit a solo home run. In the ninth, Mike Tauchman would hit an RBI double. Blue Jays would beat the Yankees by a score of 11-5.

Game Two

Gerrit Cole would start for the Yankees and he was amazing as he pitched seven innings while giving up five hits, one run, and striking out seven. Tanner Roark would start for the Blue Jays and he pitched four and a third innings while giving up seven hits, six runs, and striking out four. The Yankees offense came alive in this game as it started with Aaron Hicks in the first as he hit a triple and then scored on a wild pitch. In the fourth, Gio Urshela would hit an RBI single.

Next inning, Aaron Judge, Aaron Hicks, and Gleyber Torres all hit RBI singles. In the eighth, Brett Gardner would hit an RBI single and Kyle Higashioka would hit an RBI double. In the ninth Gleyber Torres hit an RBI single and Gio Urshela hit an infield RBI single. The Blue Jays only run would come off a Cavan Biggio solo home run as the Yankees would win by a score of 12-1.

Game Three

Robbie Ray would go for the Blue Jays as he went four innings while allowing three hits, one run, and striking out five. Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he went four innings while allowing eight hits, five runs, and striking out five. In the first, Vlad Guerrero Jr. hit an RBI single and Teoscar Hernandez scored on an error. Then, in the second Luke Voit scored on a passed ball. In the bottom of the third Vlad Guerrero Jr. hit an RBI double. In the bottom of the fourth Danny Jansen hit a solo home run and Randal Grichuk hit an RBI single.

Two innings later, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. grounded into an RBI fielder’s choice, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit an RBI single, Travis Shaw hit an RBI single, Danny Jansen was hit by a pitch and that brought in a run, Cavan Biggio hit an RBI double, and Bo Bichette hit an RBI double. Danny Jansen would then hit a solo home run in the 8th to cap off the scoring. The Blue Jays would win by a score of 14-1.

Game Four

Hyun Jin Ryu would start for the Blue Jays and he was great as he went seven innings allowing five hits, no runs, and striking out four. Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he was solid as he went five and a third innings allowing six hits, three runs, and striking out eight.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd. Bo Bichette hit an RBI double in the 3rd. Three innings later, Alejandro Kirk hit an RBI double in the 6th. Gio Urshela would cap off the scoring with an infield single. The Blue Jays would win by a score of 4-1. 

Outlook

Not a good series for the Yankees as they lose the series. They will need to bounce back and win the series against the Miami Marlins before the postseason.
