After an intense final, Sevilla surprised all fans and played a great game against Bayern Munich. However, the German champions edged out a win in extra time to secure the Super Cup!
The game started well for Sevilla, as newly signed midfielder Ivan Rakitic won a penalty. Lucas Ocampos took advantage of the opportunity to lead the game and converted the penalty in the 13th minute. However, Bayern bounced back 20 minutes later with an emphatic finish off the assist from Robert Lewandowski.
The game stayed level at 1-1 and the game went to extra time. At the stroke of extra time half time, Javi Martinez headed the ball in to seal a win for Bayern Munich.
Sevilla played a very impressive game defensively as they allowed only 2 goals from the reigning Champions League winners in 120 minutes. Bayern seemed slightly less organized without their recently traded midfielder Thiago. Nonetheless, both teams played well, as Bayern deservedly emerged as Super Cup winners.
