Backup quarterback Joe Flacco is gonna start in Darnold’s place.
Per Jets head coach Adam Gase, Sam Darnold is week-to-week.
Last Thursday, Darnold landed on his shoulder after being sacked by Denver Broncos linebacker Alexander Johnson. The team took him out for the remainder of that drive, replacing him with backup Joe Flacco.
Recklessly, the Jets decided to put Darnold back in on the ensuing Jets drive. To add insult to injury, he was placed back in the game on a third-down where he’d be sacked.
Sadly enough, Sam Darnold will miss the potential return of key weapons. Running back Le’Veon Bell is eligible to come off of injured reserve this week. It seems likely Bell will play against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday. The Jets need help in the backfield.
Wide receiver Vyncint Smith is also eligible to come off of injured reserve this week. Last season, Smith took on a role as the Jets’ fourth receiver. In 13 games last season, he caught 17 passes for 225 yards. If he returns this week, much-needed speed returns to the offense and special teams.
Sam Darnold’s current state of health brings up questions about his future with the New York Jets. He has missed numerous games in each of the last three seasons.
Can the Jets pull an upset this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals with no Sam Darnold?
