Jamison Crowder Demoted To Doubtful, Other News

It seems as though the football gods won’t let the Jets go back to full strength. Jamison Crowder has been downgraded from questionable to doubtful.

The Jets were hoping to have their full set of starting receivers for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. But, now it looks like the team will be down one. Rookie Denzel Mims is set to make his NFL debut tomorrow. Breshad Perriman is also expected to start on the outside.

In four games this season, Jamison Crowder has caught 29 passes for 383 yards and two touchdowns. His slot presence will be missed if he misses tomorrow’s game.

His likely replacement will be special teamer, Braxton Berrios. This season, Berrios has caught 11 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns. He has shown bright spots but at times can drop crucial passes.

Jets Activate OL Cameron Clark, WR Denzel Mims From Injured Reserve

Today, the Jets activated rookies Cameron Clark and Denzel Mims from injured reserve. Both players are available for tomorrow’s game against the Bills.

The New York Jets drafted wide receiver Denzel Mims in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Baylor University. So far, Mims has not played a game due to a nagging hamstring injury sustained in training camp. Mims could’ve played last week but lack of practice time held him back.

All fans are poised to see what Mims can bring to the table.

Gang Green drafted Charlotte offensive lineman Cameron Clark in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Originally playing offensive tackle in college, Clark’s size has him projected as a guard at the NFL level. Perhaps he plays tomorrow due to the absence of left guard Alex Lewis. The team can see if Clark is a building block for the future. Clark suffered shoulder and knee injuries in camp thus he was out for so long.

Jets Elevate LB Bryce Hager & K/P Sergio Castillo

Today, the Jets also activated linebacker Bryce Hager and kicker/punter Sergio Castillo from the practice squad.

Castillo signed with the team’s practice squad on October 14th. In 2019, he was an all-star in the CFL while playing for the BC Lions. He played 38 games, averaging 44.4 yards per punt, and was efficient on 87 percent of his field goals with his longest being 57 yards. Earlier in 2019, Castillo also played in the Alliance of American Football.

Castillo will be Sam Ficken‘s short-term replacement as he will likely miss the game with a groin injury.

Linebacker Bryce Hager signed with the Jets’ practice squad on September 22. Hager spent time on the Los Angeles Rams‘ injured reserve list with a shoulder injury. He was a seventh-round pick of the Rams in 2015. Over the course of his career, Hager has played in 69 games, recording 48 tackles, three pass defenses, and one forced fumble.

The Jets should be happy that they are getting some of their draft class back healthy.
