Breaking: Jets Place Bradley McDougald On IR

Today, the Jets placed safety Bradley McDougald on injured reserve. Correspondingly, the team activated Arthur Maulet from injured reserve.

The team has also signed kicker/punter Sergio Castillo to the activated roster. They’ve also elevated linebacker Bryce Hager and wide receiver Jaleel Scott from the practice squad.

Bradley McDougald sustained a shoulder injury in Week 7’s contest against the Buffalo Bills. He joined the Jets in July, following a trade with the Seattle Seahawks in which superstar safety Jamal Adams was dealt.

So far in seven games, McDougald has totaled 36 tackles, three pass defenses, and one fumble recovery.

It’s safe to say that he’s been a complete liability on defense.

Castillo will start in place of incumbent kicker Sam Ficken once again as the latter is listed as doubtful for tomorrow’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Castillo converted one field goal and one extra point last Sunday against the Bills.

Earlier this week, the Jets designated cornerback Arthur Maulet to return to practice this week. Following an injury to his groin, the team placed Maulet on injured reserve on September 22. In 12 games for the Jets last season, he recorded 38 tackles, two pass defenses, and an interception. He also recovered a muffed punt for a touchdown.

Due to the absence of Bradley McDougald, rookie Ashtyn Davis is going to see more playing time and will be starting alongside Marcus Maye.
