Jets Fall To 0-8 After Blowout To Loss to Chiefs

Another game, another Jets loss. This time the Kansas City Chiefs blew out the Jets by a score of 35-9. The team looks deflated as they have reached the halfway point in the season.

This game was everything everybody expected.

First Quarter

To start the game, the Jets elected to defer so they could receive in the third quarter. Anyways, the Chiefs wasted no time. They marched down the field quickly and capped off the drive when Patrick Mahomes threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman. The Chiefs went up 7-0.

On their first drive, the Jets wasted no time. They marched down the field rapidly. The drive was capped off when Sergio Castillo converted on a 39-yard field goal. The Jets cut their deficit to four.

On their second drive, the Chiefs rapidly moved down the field on just seven plays, while recording 73 yards. Thinking they would get the ball back on fourth down, the Jets found themselves completely dumbfounded by the Chiefs’ special teams unit. Punter Tommy Townsend unleashed a 13-yard pass to Byron Pringle for a first down. On the next play, Patrick Mahomes threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill. The Chiefs extended their lead to 14-3.

Second Quarter

To start the quarter, the Jets had the ball at the Chiefs’ 35-yard line after getting some small chunk plays. The drive ended in a 55-yard field goal from Sergio Castillo. 14-6 Chiefs.

On the ensuing drive, the Chiefs managed to get a first down but not do much else. They would punt after failing to convert a 3rd & 2.

On this Jets drive, they moved the ball downfield rapidly once again. The 13-play, 51-yard drive was capped off by another field goal by Sergio Castillo. The Jets cut their deficit to five.

On the next Chiefs drive, they managed to move the ball fluently. This time, Kansas City made it to the red zone and scored on a three-yard passing touchdown to tight end Travis Kelce. The Chiefs went up 21-9.

With excellent field position resulting from an out-of-bounds kick made by Harrison Butker, the Jets knew they had to capitalize as the ball was placed on the 50-yard line. They eventually moved into field goal territory. On a 47-yard field goal attempt from Sergio Castillo, the kick was blocked by Armani Watts and was returned to the Jets’ 30-yard line.

At the half, the Chiefs lead 21-9.

Third Quarter

The Jets received the ball to start the half. For the first three drives of the half, both teams shared three-and-outs.

On the second Chiefs’ drive of the half, the offense moved the ball downfield once again. On a 4th and 1 from the Jets 14-yard line, the Chiefs decided to go for the first down. That attempt failed as Le’Veon Bell rushed for no gain in yards. The ball was turned over.

The Jets would respond with another three-and-out.

The Chiefs kept making strides as the offense moved the ball downfield again. The end result of the six play, 83-yard drive was a 26-yard passing touchdown to Demarcus Robinson. Kansas City went up 28-9.

The Jets would try to respond with a score. But, the drive abruptly ended when tight end Chris Herndon abruptly fumbled a pass from Sam Darnold.

Fourth Quarter

To start the drive, the Jets opened with a three-and-out.

The Chiefs would seal the deal with their next drive. The end result came when Tyreek Hill caught a 41-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes threw five touchdowns on the day. 35-9 Chiefs.


The Chiefs move to 7-1 and will face the Carolina Panthers next week. The Jets move to 0-8 and will face the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football.
