Another New York Jets loss again at the hands of the New England Patriots. But, this matchup was actually competitive.
Patriots Go Up On Jets In Quarter 1
To start the game, the New York Jets received the ball. Their first drive was explosive. Gang Green moved the ball downfield effectively to the tune of 12 plays and 58 yards. The end result was a 35-yard field goal from Sergio Castillo, putting the Jets up 3-0.
The Patriots would not take long to respond. Their offense started off explosively. New England’s drive only consisted of eight plays, leading to a Cam Newton rushing touchdown. The Patriots went up 7-3.
On the ensuing drive, the Jets moved the ball into New England territory in seven plays. Only to punt on fourth down with three yards to go.
Jets Offense Explodes, Putting Them Up 20-10 At Halftime
To start the half, the Patriots quickly got off of the field.
The Patriots responded well by moving the ball downfield once again. But, this drive would end abruptly while New England still tried to push. On 4th and 1, James White failed to run it up the middle, losing four yards on the play, leading to a turnover on downs.
Gang Green responded correspondingly. The Jets moved downfield with a five-play, 25-yard drive to have Sergio Castillo kick a 50-yard field goal. 13-7 Jets.
The Patriots moved the ball rapidly on their next drive. The end result of a nine-play, 54-yard drive from New England was a 45-yard field goal. 13-10 Jets.
To the surprise of some, the Jets didn’t settle for a field goal to end the half. New York only needed two plays to score. The end result of the drive was a 20-yard touchdown reception from Jamison Crowder. 20-10 Jets
Jets Maintain Lead In Third Quarter
To start the half, the Patriots came out firing. Moving the ball downfield, New England ended the drive with a one-yard touchdown run from Rex Burkhead. 20-17 Jets.
The Jets responded with more fire on the next drive. New York moved the ball downfield enough to score on a 15-yard touchdown reception from Breshad Perriman. 27-17 Jets.
Patriots Finish Off The Jets
To start the half, the Patriots would respond with another score. Moving downfield again, New England finished a 17 play drive with a 29-yard field goal from Nick Folk. 27-20 Jets.
It didn’t take long for New England to get the ball back. Joe Flacco threw an interception to Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson, setting them up.
On their drive, the New England Patriots came back to tie the game on a Cam Newton quarterback sneak touchdown. 27-27.
On a drive the Jets should’ve moved the ball downfield, they went three-and-out.
The Patriots shocked the Jets by moving the ball downfield in just eight plays. Nick Folk kicked a 51-yard field goal to keep his former team winless.
The Jets remain winless and go on a bye week. The Patriots will face the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.
