Fresh off a nice contract extension and a win against the rival Philadelphia Eagles, Giants placekicker Graham Gano received news that he tested positive for Covid-19. The positive has since been confirmed by the team. Immediately following Sunday’s game news broke that Gano had signed a three contract extension worth 14 million dollars. After contact tracing was done it was determined that no other players were close contacts to Gano. However, two staff members were told to stay home this morning.
Gano has been almost perfect this season only missing one field goal in 22 attempts. Also, he has yet to miss an extra point. He spent most of his career with the Panthers but his tenure there ended in 2018 after he only converted 87.5% of his field goals. He would go unsigned until the end of the 2020 offseason. The signing came after Aldrick Rosas was charged with a DUI.
Gano has been placed on the Covid-19/reserve list as of 11 AM this morning. In other news, the team announced the signing of punter Ryan Santoso and tight end, Nate Wieting, to the practice squad. Gano will use the week to recover and try to make himself available for week 12 against the Bengals.
