Breaking News: Knicks Select Dayton Forward Obi Toppin

With the #8 pick in the 2020 draft, the New York Knicks select Obi Toppin. After making it clear that he was one of their first choices, the Knicks have drafted the Dayton power forward.

Toppin is a local kid, being born in Brooklyn.

Despite his age being a concern in the front office, it was too difficult to pass up the opportunity on Toppin. Many were expecting New York to trade up in the draft but had decided against doing so. Surprisingly, he fell to the 8th pick and the Knicks were able to take him.

Obi Toppin will create an exciting duo between himself and Mitchell Robinson. At 22 years old, Toppin has picked up experience in college and will be a key player for the Knicks this season.

In 2020, Toppin won many awards, including National College Player of the Year. In 31 games, he averaged 20 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, and 2.2 assists per game.

Obi Toppin has been compared to former NBA players like Amar’e Stoudemire, Kenyon Martin, and Shawn Marion.

His scoring ability on offense is his best trait. Although, Toppin does struggle on defense. Thankfully, the Knicks have defensive guru Tom Thibodeau as head coach.
