After a draft that many Knicks fans are incredibly pleased with, Leon Rose isn’t done making moves just yet. The Knicks are signing guard Myles Powell to a contract. Powell is expected to sign a contract in the next few days and be with the team for training camp, as the new season is just around the corner.
Myles Powell: Mr. New York
Myles Powell has played his entire basketball career in the New York, New Jersey area. He grew up in Trenton, New Jersey, where he was a standout player on multiple high school teams. Powell played varsity all four years. He then went on to play four seasons at Seton Hall, where he averaged 17.5 points per game on 42.1% FG percentage. Myles Powell now moves into New York’s biggest stage, The Knicks. Powell is undoubtedly someone who belongs in New York.
Myles Powell is a leader. He was the focal point of Seton Hall’s offense for years, leading them to the NCAA March Madness tournament all four years he was there. Powell was one of college basketball’s best scorers for the past two seasons. He finds ways to create shots and score with ease. It comes naturally to him. The only problem is that he’s a combo guard rather than having a true position. Either way, Powell should be able to score points in the NBA. The Knicks got a massive steal in Myles Powell.
