The Jets came out of a bye week and lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 34-26. It’s clear nothing has changed with this football team.
First Quarter Starts Out Competitive
To start out the game, Los Angeles received the ball. The Chargers were able to drive down into Jets territory. The drive lasted eight plays. Shockingly, a blocked punt by the Jets became the end result of the drive.
Gang Green started their first drive at the Chargers’ 29-yard line. The drive lasted four drives and resulted in a four-yard touchdown run from rookie La’Mical Perine. Kicker Sam Ficken missed the extra point. 6-0 Jets.
On the next Chargers drive, Los Angeles moved the ball downfield again, going into Jets territory. Driving towards the end zone, quarterback Justin Herbert aired the ball to receiver Keenan Allen. While reaching for the end zone, Allen fumbled leading to a recovery by the Jets.
Chargers Hammer Jets In Second Quarter
On the ensuing Chargers drive, Los Angeles’ offense drove downfield for a score on just five plays on a Mike Williams receiving touchdown.
The Jets punted on their next drive.
On their next drive, the Chargers scored again on a two-yard touchdown pass to tight end Hunter Henry. 21-7 Chargers.
The scoring stalled for three team drives.
In the final seconds of the half, the Chargers drove into Jets territory for a field goal. 24-6 Chargers.
Jets Rebound With Some Scoring In Quarter Three
The second half started out with a bang. The Jets drove downfield in just seven plays to score a touchdown on a 49-yard touchdown pass to Breshad Perriman. 24-13 Chargers.
Los Angeles didn’t take long to respond. They drove downfield on 12 plays to score on a touchdown pass to Keenan Allen.
New York didn’t take long to respond. The offense drove downfield to score on a one-yard touchdown run from Frank Gore. The extra point was missed. 31-19 Chargers
Jets Fall Short In Fourth Quarter
The next drive saw the Chargers drive downfield for a field goal. 34-19 Chargers.
The Jets responded quickly after that, driving downfield for a touchdown pass to Chris Herndon. 34-26 Chargers.
The rest of the game stalled as Gang Green couldn’t convert on their final drive.
The Jets have officially been eliminated from the playoffs and will face the Miami Dolphins next week. The Los Angeles Chargers will face the Buffalo Bills next week.
