Breaking: Sam Darnold Slated To Start Sunday vs Fins

He’s ready to return. New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold will start Sunday versus the Miami Dolphins. He last played against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8.

Head coach Adam Gase said barring any setbacks today in practice, Darnold will start. The third-year quarterback did have a full practice yesterday.

Sam Darnold missed the last two games with a nagging shoulder injury, the same shoulder he injured in Week 4. Darnold has missed a total of four games this season, a career-high.

In his press conference yesterday, Adam Gase did cite that Darnold’s velocity throwing the ball was faster as well as a change of pace on throws.

Sunday’s game will also be the first time Sam Darnold will be playing with all of his three healthy starting receivers. Originally, Denzel Mims missed the first couple of games of the year due to a hamstring injury and is lighting it up. Breshad Perriman and Jamison Crowder are much healthier than they were earlier in the year. Hopefully, there is some chemistry built in these last few games.

So far this season, Darnold has thrown for 1,045 passing yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions. He’s also completed 58.6 percent of his passes and has a passer rating of 65.9

These last few games will likely try to boost his trade value as the Jets try to close in on the number one overall pick.
