Dolphins Sweep Jets In 2020 Season Series, Tie All-Time

Another Gang Green loss, again. This time the Jets fell to the Miami Dolphins by a score of 20-3. Miami sweeps the season series and ties the all-time series at 55-55-1.

Although excitement was initially brought to the game with the return of Sam Darnold, the game was ugly.

Dolphins and Jets Share Field Goals In the First Quarter

The Jets received the ball to start the game. The offense exploded immediately. With Sam Darnold at the helm, Gang Green drove down the field immediately. The Jets’ drive lasted nine plays and chalked up 55 yards. The result of the drive was a 38-yard field goal from Sergio Castillo. 3-0 Jets.

Then, the Dolphins and Jets shared punts.

On the Dolphins’ second drive, the offense came together. Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Fins put together a seven play, 35 yard drive. Miami ended the drive with a 54-yard field goal from Jason Sanders to tie the game at three.

Dolphins Pile 10 Points on Jets Before Halftime

To start the half, the Jets had the ball. They would do nothing with the ball at midfield.

The Dolphins found themselves motivated. Starting deep in their own territory, Miami put together a ten play, 88-yard drive ending with a 13-yard touchdown reception from Mike Gesicki. 10-3 Fins.

Then, the Jets went three and out.

The Dolphins picked up where they left off. They put together a six play, 36-yard drive ending in a 51-yard field goal from Jason Sanders. 13-3 Fins

Around the two minute warning, the Jets moved the ball downfield effectively. Unfortunately, head coach Adam Gase‘s time management wouldn’t help. Sergio Castillo attempted a 29-yard field goal and missed wide right.

Third Quarter Goes Dead Silent

The Dolphins received the ball to open the half. They went three and out.

The Jets responded with a drive ended with an abrupt turnover. On third down, Sam Darnold rolled right looking for options but threw a costly interception to Dolphins defensive back Nik Needham.

The Jets and Dolphins then exchanged punts.

The Dolphins then started a promising drive. Then, this would be marred by a Patrick Laird fumble, recovered by Neville Hewitt.

The Jets would fail to score off the turnover and turn it over on downs.

Dolphins Execute Only Score In Fourth Quarter

The fourth quarter started with a Jets turnover. The Dolphins failed to convert off the turnover.

Then, the Jets punted.

After that, the Dolphins drove down the field for their final time. The drive lasted for seven plays and 80 yards. To cap off the drive, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to tight end Adam Shaheen. 20-3 Fins

The Jets would get the ball back but fail to do anything.
