This will be Joshua’s first fight in 2020. He has been working out very carefully, sparring with boxers, that resemble his Saturday night’s opponent in height and style as much as he can. A mistake he made against Andy Ruiz Jr., he was sparring with fighters that didn’t resemble his opponent in Ruiz, and on June 1st, 2019 he lost by technical knockout.
After evaluating himself, he learned he needed to be in better shape, often feeling winded in that bout. On December 7th, he avenged his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr, and won by unanimous decision.
Bulgarian fighter Kubrat Pulev, 39, has a record of 28-1, with 14 knockouts. His only loss came on November 15, 2014, to Wladimir Klitschko. That fight ended in a knockout in the 5th round after being knocked down a few times in the earlier rounds. Pulev has won 8 straight fights since then. Klitschko was his only title fight as a challenger. Saturday’s night fight gives him another opportunity for a title.
Tale of the Tape
