Breaking: New York Mets Hire Jared Porter To Be Next GM

The New York Mets are hiring Jared Porter to become the next general manager of the team. Opposed to his predecessor in Brodie Van Wagenen, Porter has a lot of front office experience under his belt.

Porter had been apart of some important front offices over the years. The Boston Red Sox hired him to be apart of their scouting department in 2004. During his time in Boston, he worked closely with Theo Epstein. He stayed in that area of the front office until 2015. During that span, he was apart of three World Series teams.

After that, Jared Porter joined the Chicago Cubs‘ front office in 2016, reuniting with Epstein. The Cubs won the World Series and broke the curse that year.

Then, Porter joined the Arizona Diamondbacks’ front office as the assistant general manager. He spent four years in Arizona. During his tenure, the Diamondbacks went to the playoffs once.

The Mets are finalizing a four-year contract with Jared Porter to work closely with Sandy Alderson.

Porter’s been talked about highly for some time now. Former Mets assistant general manager Allard Baird was quoted saying “he checks all the boxes”.

The Mets are hoping this guy can build a winning team along with Sandy Alderson.
