Nets vs. Celtics Preview: Kyrie Irving Against his Former Team

After their first preseason game against the Washington Wizards, the Brooklyn Nets is now set to play against the Boston Celtics. If he suits up, this is the first time Kyrie Irving will return to Boston after he left the city last 2019 offseason to join Kevin Durant to go to Brooklyn.

Kyrie Irving missed a lot of games due to a shoulder injury he sustained last season. He underwent an operation on his ailing right shoulder and missed the rest of the 2019-20 season. Every Celtics fan really knows what he brought to the city. He made so much drama that’s why most of the local fans really hate him now. He’s lucky that there’s only a limited number of people who can watch the game in the arena. If not, the Nets star may be booed or cursed out by multiple fans.

Nets and Celtics Injuries

After not playing in their first preseason game, Caris LeVert is now ready to play. However, his teammates Ellie Okobo (personal issue) and Nicolas Claxton (knee injury) are both out.

Kemba Walker is still sidelined and he won’t return to the roster until January.  Their newly acquired big man Tristan Thompson will not play too, along with Romeo Langford.

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are expected to play but for a limited time. This is still an exciting game as we will see the potential of this team when they are complete. The duo of their two stars speaks for themselves while the tandem of Spencer Dinwiddie and Jarrett Allen will boost the Nets bench. They also have sharpshooters around that can solidify their firepower.

On the other side, the Boston Celtics’ frontcourt Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will try to bounce back after their poor performances in their first preseason game this season. They need to elevate their game. Kemba Walker will not be able to play in the meantime.

Nets Celtics rivalry

The Brooklyn Nets and the Boston Celtics are both from the Atlantic Division. We may get a chance to see a new rivalry. We’re about to watch more action from both of these teams when they play against each other again later this year.

The 2020-21 NBA season is about to begin next week and these two teams will face each other again on Christmas Day. This is an exciting matchup as there will be no limits on Durant and Irving’s playing time and we’ll see them play all out against the Celtics’ tandem of stars.

There’s a good chance that the Brooklyn Nets will win this game against the Boston Celtics. The difference between their supporting casts is too shallow. The Nets have Spencer Dinwiddie and Deandre Jordan who can spark and lead the team while the Celtics mostly have rookies on the bench.

The game will start at exactly 8 PM EST in TD Garden, so don’t miss out.
