Welcome to the start of the 2020 NBA season. I will be giving you a preview of the New York Knicks versus the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers have the home-court advantage so this should be a very fun game to watch.
Key Matchups For Knicks vs Pacers
This matchup is huge for both teams. Myles Turner is one of the Pacers’ best players and scorers. And Mitchell Robinson also being one of the Knicks’ best players and defenders.
Robinson is coming off of a very consistent preseason defensively. Although he did get himself into some unnecessary foul trouble. This exclusively came when he matched up against Andre Drummond and the Cavaliers. After quickly getting into foul trouble, Robinson cleaned up his technique and made the proper adjustments.
Myles Turner plays relatively just like Mitchell Robinson. Except, Turner is a better scorer and can do it in different ways. Robinson will face a tough assignment yet again tonight. Can he stay out of ridiculous foul trouble?
Which player on the Knicks or Pacers will play consistently enough to gain the victory?
RJ Barrett was arguably the most consistent player on the Knicks during the preseason. His defense was average but his scoring was in double digits always. It seems as though his mid-range jump shot is there and his three-point shot is in the works. Barrett has also made improvements to his free throw shooting and now can get to the line quicker and more efficiently.
For the most consistent Pacers player, you’re probably looking at Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon, or T.J. Warren. Warren’s popularity in the NBA rose in the bubble last season. Although, he’s vulnerable to being shut down by superior defenders like Jimmy Butler.
Domantas Sabonis is consistently a good rebounder and scorer and looks to keep it up. Malcolm Brogdon’s stock also rose in the bubble as well.
4.Bench Vs Bench
The Knicks are dealing with some injuries as well. Austin Rivers has yet to play for the Knicks due to a groin injury. But, the bench should still be a strength.
The Knicks have a mix of youngsters and veteran players coming off of the bench. New York would like to see a spark litten in Kevin Knox and Frank Ntilikina as they face make or break seasons. Rookie Obi Toppin will likely start coming off of the bench after having an average preseason. Reggie Bullock looks to prove the doubters wrong after a down season in 2019.
