It’s Christmas day and that means it’s time for some Brooklyn Nets basketball! Today, the Nets will be facing off with Kyrie Irving‘s former team the Boston Celtics. The game will tip off at 5:00 PM EST in Boston at the TD Garden. The broadcast for today’s game will be on ABC for TV and 101.9 WFAN for radio. Both teams will be debuting their brand new city jerseys for this game as well. There’s tons of anticipation for the Nets’ second game of the season.
Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving will be leading this Brooklyn team in Boston. In their first game of the season, the Nets beat the Golden State Warriors 125-99 in a blowout. Steve Nash was able to coach up the team to an amazing game where everyone contributed. Durant had a 22 point game, while Irving had 26. The stars showed up big on Tuesday, but will they be able to put on a similar performance on Christmas Day?
Boston and Brooklyn additionally faced off in a preseason game exactly a week ago. Though tonight is a lot more important, the Nets blew the Celtics out in the preseason. The final score was 113-89, with both teams playing their starters for an extended period of time. Durant scored 27 points and Irving recorded17 points, but that game really showed me that this Brooklyn Nets team is really good.
The Nets are really deep, but they need to keep everyone involved. Obviously good offense and good defense, but everyone has to have a good game to be able to beat a team like the Celtics. The Celtics really need to find a way to stop the Nets. If they can play good defense, they may have a chance to win. They also need a big game from Jayson Tatum. It should be a good one, Merry Christmas.
