Jets Solidify Second Overall Pick With Win Over Browns

To the chagrin of their fans, the New York Jets beat the Cleveland Browns by a score of 23-16. As a result of this and a Jaguars’ loss, New York solidifies the second overall pick.

The Browns’ playoff chances also take a hit with this loss.

Jets Score Only TD In First Quarter Vs Browns

Both teams started the game off with punts.

Then, the Cleveland Browns found momentum. On three plays, the Browns drove into Jets’ territory with ease. To finish off the drive, Cody Parkey nailed a 44-yard field goal to give the Browns the lead. 3-0 Jets

After that, both teams shared punts.

Then, the Jets felt motivated after their punt drive. The Jets moved into Browns’ territory on three plays. Next, Adam Gase pulled a trick out of his hat. Sam Darnold took a direct snap which he faked to Braxton Berrios and gave to Jamison Crowder. Crowder then unleashed a bomb for a 43-yard touchdown pass. 7-3 Jets

Jets Shutout Browns In Quarter Two

The Browns started off the quarter with a Baker Mayfield fumble recovered by the Jets.

Gang Green would convert off of the turnover with ease. On four plays, Sam Darnold threw a rocket to tight end Chris Herndon to the end zone for a touchdown. Sam Ficken missed the extra point. 13-3 Jets

Both teams then shared four straight punts.

The Browns then tried to score to end the half. On eight plays, they landed in field goal territory. Unfortunately, Cody Parkey shanked a field goal and the opportunity was wasted.

Both Teams Share Touchdowns In Quarter Three

The Jets felt motivated coming out of the half. They went down the field in five plays. To finish out the drive, Jamison Crowder hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from Sam Darnold. 20-3 Jets

The Browns went three and out on the next drive.

The Jets’ offense was hot again, driving down the field way. Some incomplete passes made Sam Ficken extend his kicking range. His 50-yard field goal attempt was blocked.

The Browns felt they needed to convert off of the turnover. On nine plays, Cleveland scored on a one-yard touchdown run from Nick Chubb. 20-10 Jets

The Jets then punted.

Jets Close Out With The W In Quarter Four

The Browns started with the ball. On eight plays in the quarter, they scored on a four-yard touchdown run from Kareem Hunt. Cody Parkey missed the extra point. 20-16 Jets

The Jets and Browns then shared some punt drives.

The Browns then started deep in their own territory. Unfortunately, Baker Mayfield fumbled again and the Jets recovered the football.

The Jets then converted off of the turnover with a field goal. 23-16 Jets

Starting at midfield, the Browns couldn’t complete the comeback drive. The Jets took home their second victory of the 2020 season.
