Jets Complete Interview With 49ers DC Robert Saleh

Today, the New York Jets completed an interview with 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. Saleh was the team’s third interviewee for their current head coaching vacancy.

The team also interviewed Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and former Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis.

On Sunday, the Jets will interview Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

Robert Saleh will also be interviewing with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers. The Houston Texans are the only team not to request Saleh for their head coaching vacancy.

Saleh has been a hot head coaching candidate for the past two years. The San Francisco 49ers hired him in 2017 to be their defensive coordinator. Since his hiring, the team has seen nothing but defensive success.

His defenses have ranked 24th, 13th, 2nd, and 5th in total throughout his tenure respectively.

The 49ers’ defense was key to their run to the Super Bowl last season. Unfortunately, they lost to the Chiefs by a score of 31-20 due to an offensive collapse.

It’s impressive what Robert Saleh has been able to do. Although the Niners inherited season-ending injuries from Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas, Dee Ford, and Ezekiel Ansah, the defense managed to rank fifth overall in the NFL.

Importantly, Saleh is loved by his players and doesn’t alienate his players. Unlike Adam Gase.
