According to numerous reports, the Brooklyn Nets have reportedly acquired superstar James Harden from the Houston Rockets. The deal will be a four-team trade that also includes the Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Nets will be sending Caris LeVert to the Pacers, while Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince will be heading to the Cavaliers in the deal. The Rockets will be acquiring Victor Oladipo, Dante Exum, Rodions Kurucs, and 8 future first round picks. Brooklyn will send 3 unprotected first rounders to Houston (2022, 2024, 2026) and 4 first round pick swaps (2021, 2023, 2025, 2027). Cleveland will also be sending a first round pick (via Milwaukee) to Houston in the trade as well.
Wow, just wow. The Nets have officially formed a big three with Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. This trade with all but certainly puts the Nets as favorites in the Eastern Conference with an expectation to win a championship. The Nets have sacrificed their future once before, and have done it again.
Fan favorites Caris LeVert and Jarrett Allen being traded away means all the culture talk in Brooklyn is over. It is now championship or bust. If the Nets end up winning a championship because of this deal, it was all worth it. If they don’t, this could be another trade that sets the Nets back for years. Whatever the case is, this is the most important trade in franchise history.
The Nets currently have three open roster spots after this trade, so it will be interesting to see who Sean Marks decides to pick up. What a day for Nets fans…
