Tonight, the New York Knicks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers by a score of 102-81. Immanuel Quickley‘s 25 points off of the bench played a major role in this game. With this win, the Knicks snap a three-game losing streak.
The Knicks now stand at 9-11 and the Cavaliers stand at 9-10.
Here are some things I took away from tonight’s game:
Another Dominant Performance From Immanuel Quickley
What could I say? It’s yet another convincing performance from rookie point guard Immanuel Quickley. Tonight, Quickley led the Knicks’ scoring with 25 points off of the bench. He shot 9/17 from the field while making five three-pointers in just eight attempts. Once again, Immanuel Quickley showed he can pick this team up when they are down.
With 4:47 left in the first quarter, the rookie came into the game for a struggling Elfrid Payton. At the time, the Knicks were down by a score of 13-5. With Quickley facilitating, the Knicks took a 19-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. The team never looked back.
Fans will keep calling for Quickley to start yet again. Even though, head coach Tom Thibodeau left the rookie in at the end of the game.
Knicks Hold Andre Drummond To Just Four Points
A major factor going into tonight’s game was Cleveland’s big man in Andre Drummond. The last time the Knicks and Cavaliers played, Drummond put on a clinic, scoring 33 points and grabbing 23 boards. Well, the Knicks must have watched tape on the big man and properly adjusted.
Tonight, Drummond only scored four points but did grab 15 rebounds. He also shot two of seven from the field. Even though Mitchell Robinson totaled a season-high five personal fouls, he showed his true defensive prowess against one of the better rebounding scorers in the NBA.
RJ Barrett Puts In Yet Another Solid Effort
RJ Barrett shined again tonight, scoring 24 points and shooting 8-19 from the field. Barrett also showed his ability to draw fouls in the paint and kept the defense on their toes. Everything was working for the sophomore tonight.
As been said before, if RJ Barrett can keep up the consistency, he can be really special. As a matter of fact, Barrett’s been ona tear for the past week.
