Nets Lose Frustrating Game to Woeful Pistons

It’s been the story of the season for the Brooklyn Nets. They once again lose to a team they should’ve beaten, this time to the worst team in the NBA. The Detroit Pistons came into this game with a 5-18 record and recently departed with their best guard in Derrick Rose. This game should’ve been an easy win for the Nets, but no. They lose 122-111 and are now only 2 games above .500.

Same Old Nets

It feels like we are in Groundhog Day with this Nets team. They failed to play with an sort of energy to start the game and were instantly down by double digits. The Nets played catch up for the rest of the game, but then make dumb mistakes when the game was within a possession or two. They would turn over the ball a ton, take a bunch of stupid shots, and fail to contest shots on the defensive end. Again, this is the story of the season for this Brooklyn team. They play down to their opponent.

The Brooklyn Nets need to realize that effort does mean everything. Yes, the Nets can pretty much out-talent any team in the league, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to win. Nets have repeatedly played down to below .500 teams because they just assume their big three automatically means they’ll win. A team with as many flaws as the Nets should never play down to any opponent. The Nets organization are fooling themselves because they think they’re good basketball team right now. Here’s a spoiler: They are currently not a good basketball team.

If this team wants to go anywhere far in the playoffs, things need to start changing. Steve Nash needs to start getting on players more for not trying hard enough. James Harden needs to be more aggressive offensively. DeAndre Jordan needs to stop playing lazy and actually give effort. And most importantly, they need to play defense for an entire 48 minutes! The Nets have given up 120+ points in 11 of their last 12 games. Absolutely terrible.

Upcoming Game for the Nets

Nets will once again will be without Kevin Durant tomorrow (thanks NBA!), as they head to back to Brooklyn to face that Pacers. This will be the Nets final home game before they go on a 5 game West Coast road trip. Tomorrow’s game will start at 8:00 PM EST on YES Network.
