Devils defeat the Sabers by the final of 3-2!

The Devils came into this game needing a win as they were on a four-game losing streak. Also, the team has not won at home in 11 straight games. The Buffalo Sabers on the other hand were on an 11 game losing streak. Something had to give for one of these two teams that have been playing very poorly as of recently.

First Period-

The Devils have not come out strong this season in the first periods. This time it was a little different as they were able to strike first with Yegor Sharangovich‘s sixth goal of the season. He was able to take a pass from Damon Severson and snap the puck five-hole past, Jonas Johansson.  This was not a great period by the Devils but in the end, a successful one as they lead 1-0.

Second Period-

The second period did start so off hot for the Devils as the Sabers went ahead 2-0. They got goals from Tobias Rieder and Jeff Skinner. For Rieder, this was his 5th of his season and for Skinner, this was his  2nd goal of the season. This was not how the Devils wanted to start the period but luckily Sami Vatanen took a wrist shot and tied the game at 2. The Devils were able to at least end that period tied.

Third period-

The final period was probably the best the Devils played in the game.  Early on the Devils grabbed the lead with a tip-in goal by Miles Wood. That was his ninth of his season. He really is having a breakout year. This game was far from done as Mackenzie Blackwood bailed out the Devils with great saves. Blackwood has been struggling recently and a performance like this will hopefully boost his confidence. The Devils were able to hold off the Sabers’ final push and win the game 3-2. The next game is on Thursday against the Penguins.
