Rangers Fall to Flyers 2-1 After Late Goal

Pre Game Preview

Rangers vs. Flyers, pre-game preview. With both teams in the playoff hunt, the Rangers Will look to get one win closer to a playoff berth. In the last two meetings with these two teams, the Rangers blew out the Flyers 9-0, and 8-3. The Flyers will surely be out for blood this game as they will look not to be embarrassed by the Rangers and more importantly the “Flyers Killer” Mika Zibanejad, who has 12 points (6G 6A) in the two teams last two meetings. 

Key Players

The Rangers will have a full roster this game. The previously mentioned Mika Zibanejad will look to have another elite-level game as he has destroyed the Flyers in their last two meetings. Adam fox will also look to have an elite-level game again. In the team’s last meeting Fox had a franchise record-tying 5 assist, he will look to reignite that performance tonight. Rangers wingers, Artemi Panarin, Chris Kreider, and Pavel Buchnevich, will all need to keep up their stellar play to get the win.

1st Period

“Flyers killer” strikes again! Mika Zibanejad puts a goal in on the power play assisted by Fox, and Strome. Flyers outshot the Rangers 8-17. The score 1-0 Rangers. The first period was not very entertaining, it was very back and forth but the Rangers came out with the lead.

2nd Period 

The Flyers kept the Rangers scoreless while putting in a power-play goal. It was another period that was not the most entertaining but the teams are looking to win not put on a show. The Rangers needed to get more shots on goal. The Flyers again outshot the Rangers 12-9, the score, 1-1 end of the second.

3rd Period 

Flyers 2, Rangers 1, shots 8-8. The Rangers once again were scoreless in the period. The period was not a very entertaining one, much like the game, a lot of back and forth but the Flyers won in the end. 

Game Takeaways 

 The Rangers blew out the Flyers in their last two games but that was not the outcome of this game. The Rangers could not have done anything much better besides more shots. it was a fairly even game except for the shots….. The Flyers dominated in the shot department as they outshot the Rangers 37-25. One of the bright points of the game was Adam Fox who played out of his mind while also having an assist on the Rangers’ lone goal. The Rangers can keep their heads high and roll into Washington, tomorrow ready to win.
