The New York Knicks are tied for the longest winning streak in the NBA. With a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans last night the Knicks have won their sixth straight game. Unfortunately for the Knicks the team they are tied with is also the team they are competing for a playoff seed with. The Boston Celtics also find themselves with a six game winning streak. However the New York Knicks with have an opportunity to extend that winning streak with some very winnable games coming up this week.
First up is the Charlotte Hornets who will face off with the New York Knicks on Tuesday April twentieth. The Hornets are currently twenty-eight and twenty-eight which is good enough for the eight seed in the eastern conference. The Hornets are without rookie phenom LaMelo Ball who is out with a broken wrist. The last time these two teams faced was on January eleventh. The Hornets came away with the victory with a score of one hundred and nine to eighty-eighty. Kevin Knox scored a team high nineteen points as Julius Randle had a rare off night. Gordon Hayward scored a game high thirty-four points. The overall head-to-head record for both teams has the New York Knicks leading the Hornets fifty-nine to fifty-three.
Second is a matchup with the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday April twenty-first. The Hawks are currently thirty-one and twenty-six which has them seeded at the fourth slot in the eastern conference. The Knicks and Hawks previously faced off on Monday February fifth-teeth. The New York Knicks came away with the victory that night with a score of one hundred and twenty-three to one hundred and twelve. Julius Randle had a tremendous night with forty-four points nine rebounds and five assists. Immanuel Quickley also chipped in with sixteen points off the bench. Trae Young had a team high twenty-three points for the Hawks. The overall head-to-head record for both teams has the Hawks leading the New York Knicks one hundred and ninety-seven to one hundred and eighty-two.
Lastly the New York Knicks will host the Toronto Raptors on Saturday April twenty-first. The Raptors come into the game with a twenty-four and thirty-four record which has them as the tenth seed in the eastern conference. The Raptors and Knicks last faced off on Sunday April eleventh. The New York Knicks were victorious that night with a score of a one hundred and two to ninety-six. Julius Randle had a game high twenty-six points. While Gary Trent Jr. had a team high twenty-three points for the Raptors. The overall head-to-head record for both teams has the Raptors leading the Knicks fifty-five to forty-two.
My prediction for the Knicks and Hornets matchup has the Knicks coming away with a seventh victory in a row. The Hornets are four and six in their last ten games. Since Ball went down with a wrist injury the team has not been the same. The Knicks league leading defense will be too much for the Hornets to handle. The New York Knicks will come out of the gates strong after losing to the Hornets in their last matchup.
Knicks 110 – Hornets 102
My prediction for the Knicks and Hawks game has the Knicks coming away with the victory. With this win the New York Knicks will position themselves to move up in the eastern conference. The Knicks are currently only a half game behind the Hawks for the fourth seed in the eastern conference. The last time these two teams faced off Randle had a career night. The former Kentucky Wildcat has shown no signs of slowing down lately. If Randle continues his hot streak the Hawks will be in for a long night.
Knicks 115 – Hawks 105
My prediction for the Knicks and Raptors matchup has the Raptors coming away with a victory. This is where I believe the New York Knicks winning streak will be coming to an end. Although the Raptors record is very bad, I wouldn’t underestimate them. They have come alive recently with a six and four record in their last ten games. The Raptors will have revenge on their minds.
