Brooklyn Nets Week Ahead: End of the Regular Season

One of the greatest regular seasons in Brooklyn Nets history will be coming to a close this week. The Nets enter the week with a record of 44-24, good for second in the Eastern Conference. With 4 games remaining, Brooklyn needs to finish the season at least 2-2 to own the best winning percentage in the team’s NBA history.

The biggest headline for the Brooklyn Nets this week will be the health of James Harden. With the playoffs looming right around the corner, getting Harden into some game action would be ideal for the Nets. Harden has of course missed 19 out of the last 20 games with a hamstring strain.

May 11: Nets @ Bulls

The Brooklyn Nets will be playing their final regular season road game tomorrow against the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls are currently clinging onto their playoff chances, as they enter tomorrow’s game 2.5 games behind the tenth-seed. The 7-10 seeds this season will be having a play-in tournament, which will determine who gets the final 7 and 8 seed. This means the Bulls will have extra motivation in tomorrow’s game, so expect a near-fully healthy Chicago team. The Nets will look to play spoiler on the Bulls’ season.

May 12: Nets vs. Spurs

Brooklyn will return home to play the Spurs on Wednesday after completing their 5-game road-trip. San Antonio is currently the tenth seed in the Western Conference, so they will be another team with extra motivation. Considering this game is the second-half of a back-to-back, expect Steve Nash to potentially rest some players. Especially when it comes to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Also, keep a close eye on James Harden and his injury status for this game.

May 15: Nets vs. Bulls

The Nets will play the Bulls once again, but this time in Brooklyn. If James Harden were to return at all during this regular season, this game may be the one. Steve Nash has stated that there’s a possibility Harden can return before the playoffs, so don’t be surprised if we finally see Harden returning. Getting at least one game to form team chemistry with the Big 3 is exactly what this team needs. Harden, Durant, and Irving have only played in 7 games together on the season.

May 16: Nets vs. Cavs

Brooklyn will close their season against the lowly Cavaliers this Sunday. Don’t expect the Nets too play many regulars in this game due to load management before the playoffs. This game won’t mean much, unless it comes down to seeding for the Nets. This game will be Jarrett Allen‘s return to Brooklyn after the trade, so it will be nice to see him. Expect the team to give him a nice tribute.

Predictions
